Thank you for a lovely week. It was great being able to come back with the children. We had fun exploring the nature reserve, Dungeness and riding on the trains. They also enjoyed the novelty of going out for fish & chips and only having to walk a short way down the road to the Inkerman’s. We’ll have to come back again when the children are bigger and bring bikes.

Thank you so much for sharing this gorgeous cottage with us – we loved our stay in Rye Harbour. No doubt you will hear about or connections (note from Katy – do read our visitors book for the fascinating long version of this entry).
Viv & Pat were wonderful company and shared so much of their time and history with us. Thank you again for all the very personal touches in the cottage – we enjoyed the paintings, cooking in the kitchen, relaxing in the cosy lounge, the sound of the gulls etc.
Thanks again.

Our second time here and again lovely weather. Enjoyed our time on bikes (hired from Rye) across the nature reserve and along the front of the sea, then inland to Winchelsea.
Visited 2 museums in Canterbury – they are both well worth a visit – very interesting! Masonic one and the Chaucer museum.
Climbing up to the top of the church tower in Rye is a good experience – looking at the landscape all around.
A lovely day was spent wandering around the RSPB bird reserve at Dungeness too. We saw lots of birds which we would not see nearer to home!
Thank you for a warm, clean, very well equipped cottage.

A wonderful stay again, thank you for making this such a warm and welcoming home from home. Fabulous birdlife, wonderful beach, and the glorious nature reserve all on the doorstep. October 2017

We’ve had a lovely relaxing few days. The cottage has given us a really comfortable base – especially having the log fire one cold evening.
The Art Festival has been a bonus – the musical talent was great considering that Rye is a relatively small town. We loved the town with the coffee shops and small retail places. The man who runs the model soldier shop was a great find as he spent time (without asking) repainting the blue on a pair of chipped glasses. Thanks for having us. We hope to return some time in the future.

October 2017

Thank you for a fabulous stay in your beautiful cottage.
We have had a great holiday, lots of wonderful cycle rides and good food. We really like The Ship at Winchelsea Beach. Fish & chips takeaway from the Inkerman Arms, and we had a great meal at the White Horse in Billington near Ham Street + a great cycle on endless country lanes with the sweetest blackberries we have ever tasted – masses of them.
We also enjoyed a couple of meals at William the Conquerer (food until 9 p.m. which was great). Visited the Avocet gallery – beautiful artwork here in Rye Harbour. You have been so kind and helpful to us, thank you for the milk, biscuits and flowers. We love your cosy cottage and the peace & beauty of Rye Harbour. Also thanks to your sister and brother-ink-law for helping us out.

July 2017

4th time here! 3 nights in never long enough – a week would give more time to do some longer walks. Birdwatching-wise my brother is certain he identified a Citrine Wagtail in Rye Harbour which is rare and a lifer for him!
Went to RSPB Dungeness one day – a favourite but extremely windy.
Many thanks again for another lovely stay in your homely cottage and thanks to the cleaner – always underestimated.. .. ..
Good that there are still quite a few Housemartins & Sandmartins around, though not as many as we remember 4 years ago (our last visit). C20-30 this time.

What a delightful cottage – very comfortable & well equipped. The flowers are a lovely touch (Aestromeras are one of my favourites). Our short break was just what was needed to aid John’s continued recovery after a recent operation.
We discovered bird-watching and got very excited at not only seeing a redshank but being able to identify it. Perhaps we are on the way to becoming ‘proper’ birdwatchers! A point of interest – we borrowed binoculars, books on birds & flowers together with a pen & notebook (in rucksack) from the
Nature Reserve information Centre (Lime Kiln Cottage) leaving a small deposit.
One last point – we had forgotten what a star-filled sky looked like.

Thanks for providing us with a delightful cottage to enjoy the half-term holidays.
Rye Harbour has a wonderful atmosphere especially after visiting the William the Conqueror pub! Lovely fish & Chips from the Inkerman Arms, and in Rye itself. Good to visit friends and family in Eastbourne & Hastings. (Hurstmonceaux Science park recommended!) Big highlight watching a tornado on Tuesday while riding on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch railway (also highly recommended!) Thanks again – hope to see you soon.

Had a lovely few days chilling out and exploring the area.  Refreshing, brisk walk along the front via the nature reserve was brill and a delicious breakfast at cafe near the harbour. Extremely comfortable, cosy and welcoming home to stay in at any time of the year. ~Many thanks.

Our yearly cottage break was another huge success due to a welcoming cottage which is cosy, warm and well equipped. The beds were really comfy, the fire was amazing (after we learned how to do it) and the location was perfect. The Inkerman Arms offers a traditional, friendly, local pub experience and Rye is very beautiful. Would definitely recommend, thanks again!

We had a good rest away from everyday’s madness! The cottage is so cosy and welcoming. Thank you for having the basics ready for us. Rye, The Brede Valley, Hastings Country Park, Beachy Head were great walks we enjoyed. The English people are very friendly and helpful. Bye.

Great week! Good walks around Rye Harbour nature reserve, take the biniculars for the bird hides. Rockpooling and barbeque at Petts level, hearty lunch at the Smugglers Inn, walks around hastings Country Park.
Train from Tenterden to Bodiam was fun. Enjoy!

Can only agree with all the positive comments made previously – a real home from home, with everything you could need when ‘on hols’!  Lucky with the weather, and enjoyed many, many walks and pottering around Rye. Shower is wonderful! Everything so wonderfully tidy and clean –  thank you for a lovely stay.

Nice place to stay, wonderful area. Love Dungeness for it’s wild lonely vistas. Visited Scotney Castle, Batemans, White Cliffs of Dover and the lighthouse. Found the iconic lonely St. Thomas Beckett church in Romney Marsh. Really nice gallery tea room just along the road in Rye Harbour village.

Really enjoyed our 3 night stay in this cosy, characterful cottage, equipped with a lot of charm and care. Thank you for the lovely flowers, soaps etc. It wasn’t quite cold enough to light the fire – but not far off on Saturday night with a strong N.E. wind blowing! We came for the birds, so went to Dungeness RSPB reserve one day – windy but sunny. Yesterday was a washout but we made it to the reserve hut in the Harbour here. Thrilled to hear a nightingale for the bedroom windows. Great area for birdwatching – hope to be back to explore more in better weather. Many thanks for everything.

From Charlie – I had a wonderful time. I played lots of dominos and scrabble. And I enjoyed the cream jammy dodgers. Bye, and thanks!!!

From Charlie’s parents Thanks very much – we had a great stay here. In particular we appreciated all your thoughtful welcoming touches, (tea & coffee! Flowers! Milk! and jammy dodgers, how on earth did you know they are Dr. Who’s favourites?! We have a very impressed 8 year old  .. . )
Beautifully decorated cottage – how nice – and a brilliant wood burner.
I (Ronnie) had a lovely time revisiting all the old haunts of my teenage holidays in Pett Level, and sharing them with my family.
Rye Church tower wonderful – just as I remember. And visited Pett Level beach, Fairlight, Winchelsea, Dungeness, shopped in Rye – all wonderful.

We enjoyed our stay. Lovely area, Lots of walking on nature reserve. Would come again.

We would recommend going up the church tower, but you need a head for heights. Can recommend Simply Spice if you enjoy curry.

Our fifth visit to this beautiful cottage – and area. Tip: try the “Ship” on the Sea Road to Winchelsea Beach, it re-opened on Sunday. It has a most beautiful garden at the back.

Thank you for letting us stay in your cosy cottage – very clean and well equipped. Rye and surroundings are lovely for walking; Camber Sands has an excellent beach for sunbathing & swimming.
We recommend the Inkerman Arms for pub food and Simply Italian! in Rye for excellent Italian cuisine. There is a lovely new vegetarian restaurant in Canterbury – The Hutch.

Thanks for doing a last minute booking, my son took a lot of persuading that there were no late night/24 hour shops!
